Recently we have received several gadgets except smartphones and tablets with Google Android. Though basically designed for phones and tablets, Android also runs smoothly on other devices like watches, micro-PCs and more. Here is a brilliant Android 2.2 Froyo-based watch, called the Z1 Smart Android 2.2 Watch from a Chinese developer. The Z1 Smart Watch becomes a nice tech product, because you can use it not only to check time or date, but also access emails, social media updates, news stories, videos and many more over internet.

Technical specifications

The Z1 Smart Watch sports a tiny 2-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen. The screen is enough to let you watch contents and provide inputs for the gadget. Under the hood, the Z1 Smart Watch is powered by dual core MTK6516 CPU that touts frequencies of 280 and 460MHz, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory plus 16GB microSD slot. For network connectivity, you can either depend on 2.75G and Wi-Fi. It also features Bluetooth 2.0. The Froyo smart watch further features a 2-megapixel camera, gyro sensor, internal GPS antenna and a multimedia player and recorder and more. Thanks to an 800mAh battery, the device will work up to six days on standby.

Features

Being a Froyo based and net-connected device, you can access Google Play (Android Market) for suitable apps for the platform; but there is a restriction over downloading all apps due to its small display. Anyway, the device will let you run apps for checking mails and updating social media sites. Thanks to Bluetooth, there may also have the facility to connect the watch with your smartphone or tablet. Well, like other similar smart watches, Z1 may also help you see updates from your handsets so that you won’t have to take out your phone every now and then to look for updates.

The Z1 Smart offers enough memory storage option. Apart from the built-in 8GB, you can insert SD cards up to 16GB to add to the storage capacity. Decent battery life is yet another feature of the watch. With a 6-day standby period, you can boldly go for a journey with the watch. It has a USB charging option; hence you can refill the battery from anywhere using your tablet or computer. Justifying its mobile-like design, the watch mounts a 2-megapixel camera. Well, you can capture images and video clips and share them on social media sites. The watch comes with the dimensions of 64 x 42 x 14.5mm.

Shortcomings

Unfortunately, the smart watch doesn’t support 3G, but it has only 2.75G for network connectivity. As well, its Wi-Fi connectivity is reportedly very poor. Some analysts report that the device doesn’t provide the offered battery life. It is also a bit heavier with 160 grams.

In short, the Z1 Smart Android 2.2 Watch is a nice product. It was launched at the beginning of 2012 for a price about $280. It is made available by its Chinese manufacturer on Alibaba. Many other Chinese sites also sell the gadget. It is indeed a great device for a person, who requires an ultraportable gadget that will bring several real-time updates like emails, SMS, MMS, calls, date, time and others on a single platform.
