After the Apple Online Store received some short maintenance earlier today, Apple came back with a new option- in-store pickup for online orders. This new option, which was rumored a few weeks ago, is finally available for people who live in the San Francisco Bay area.

The option is only available for three stores at the moment, San Francisco flagship, Chestnut Street, and Stonestown, but more U.S. stores will be added within the next couple of weeks or months. At checkout, customers have to option to have the item sent to their home, or to their local Apple Store, which is accessible by typing your ZIP code into the site.

It seems as if the delivery date is later if you choose to pick your item up at the store as opposed to having it delivered to your house. The only exception is if it is a stock item that the store already carrie. Though this option may not seem ideal to people who live in the suburbs, for those who live in large cities this is a breath of fresh air- you no longer have to worry about your package being left outside of your apartment’s door while you are at work or school.
